When Mr and Mrs Furey went away on holiday, they never expected the worst to happen: a burst pipe that left their recently renovated home damaged.
With their youngest grandchildren having moved overseas, Mrs Furey had been excited to finally install all-new carpets, replacing the child-friendly laminate downstairs. Sadly, while the homeowners were abroad, a water leak from internal pipework caused significant damage throughout the ground floor of their property. Ceilings, walls, carpets, laminate flooring, skirting boards and decorations were all affected by the water leak.
Thankfully, the damage to the vacant property didn't go unnoticed for long. The couple's son had been checking on the property daily whilst they were away, and when he discovered what had happened, the first step he took was to turn off the water at the stop tap. His second step was to contact Action Insurance Repair.
"As the clients were both out of the country, they weren't able to see or assess the damage first-hand, and they weren't in a position to be arranging clean-up work, the emergency plumber, or meetings with people from the insurance company," explains Joanne Ginty, Director at AIR. "Mrs Furey was particularly upset that she couldn't see the damage to her home, but was also anxious about having to return to all the mess.
"Communicating with Mr and Mrs Furey and their son, we were able to make the introduction to our independent loss assessor, who reported the claim to their insurance company on their behalf and met with the company's loss adjuster. As they'd placed complete trust in our team to get things sorted, they were able to extend their stay in Abu Dhabi and let us take care of the necessary arrangements to get the ball rolling with their claim.
"The loss assessor obtained approval to install equipment to start drying out the property and we were able to send a plumber and electrician to deal with the emergency repairs."
